HOW WELL IS ORGANIZATION PREPARED FOR AN EMERGENCY?

COURSE KEY ISSUES & CONCEPTS

  • Participants will directly apply knowledge a case scenario based on a threat or actual event which impacts their organization.
  • Learning will also be accomplished by studying relevant reference scenarios, which are previously studied cases from which participants can apply characteristics of interest to their own frame of reference.
  • Case scenarios will enable participants to adapt the offered management model to their own realities, including cultural aspects.

Every Module will present theoretical and practical emergency management concepts as part of a three-phase module which spans from preparedness, through management in real time (response), to recovery and assimilation of lessons learned.

  • We will emphasize awareness and identification of acute psycho-behavioral reactions, such as Acute Stress Reaction (ASR), as a means of reducing risk to casualties and enabling continued operation of the task force.
  • Participants will acquire skills for delivering Psychological First Aid (PFA) which will assist recovery of ASR casualties.
  • The course will emphasize that attention to psychological impact should continue through the recovery phase to monitor and offer solutions for post-traumatic distress (PTSD, post-traumatic depression).
  • Each module will emphasize the relationship between personal resilience and organization (group) resilience.
  • Concepts related to preparedness will draw a direct connection between individual resilience (strengthening sense of cohesion, belonging, commitment, trust in the leader) and organizational resilience (acquisition of resources, working plans, training and drills).
  • Organizational commitment to the wellbeing of its members is a resilience-promoting culture
  • The course will establish “Functional Continuity” as both a parameter for identification of traumatic impact as well as the target of emergency management.
  • Operationally, preparedness aims to maintain the organization’s functional continuity, preserving the ability to provide its services in emergency situations.
  • During event management, preserving functional continuity is the main goal of the manager, and can be accomplished through various means.
